On 31 August 2021, TP LAB, the Territorial Planning Laboratory, which operates with the support of the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme, held its first advisory board meeting at Lechner Knowledge Center. The TP LAB project, launched in October 2020, is preparing a GIS data and information service platform for the wider area of Szigetköz (Malý Žitný ostrov) and Žitný ostrov (Csallóköz) by the cooperation of the Institute of Spatial Planning (IPP) and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU), West-Pannon Nonprofit Ltd. and Lechner Knowledge Center as lead partner. The aim is to improve communication and the availability of information online and the coordination of spatial planning and harmonization of decision -making between regions that are closely related to each other but are divided by the border.
After the online kick-off meeting in January and the local partner meeting in Győr in June, Géza Juhász, Head of the Planning and Spatial Data Services Department of Lechner Knowledge Center, welcomed the representatives of the partners and gave a brief introduction on the Knowledge Center. Then Mariann Majorné Vén, project manager of TP LAB, presented the agenda of the meeting, as well as the function, tasks and role of the advisory board in ensuring that digital knowledge helps to create a livable environment and sustainable land use within the framework of TP LAB. The next topic of the professional meeting was the timetable of the project, setting deadlines and event dates. For the rest of the morning, the presenters gave presentations on the establishment of the GIS Data and Services Center and the Living Lab local service office, and the user-friendly use of the information service application among other things.
The first half of the day was closed by a colorful idea factory, where the participants shared their thoughts and ideas about further new, innovative opportunities and possible areas of future cooperation. Most of the ideas were about how today's digital literacy can support fundamental, overarching goals such as adapting to climate change or utilizing green and brownfield sites - not confining the effects of territorial change to administrative boundaries, but aiming for cross-border co-operation instead. After lunch, the participants discussed the next events and meetings ahead of them. In addition to the trainings, the upcoming events of TP LAB will be hosted in Bratislava. The next advisory board meeting, as well as the closing conference will be held at the Technical University during the winter, where there also will be an opportunity to visit the local Living Lab.
